Nurse Jenny

Hi everyone! I’m Nurse Jenny, and I am so excited to welcome you to the first part of our new three-part series on mastering your metabolic health through mindful movement. At Caring Hearts Psychiatry Inc., we believe that mental health and physical health are two sides of the same coin. You can’t truly address one without looking at the other.

Today, we’re talking about a very specific time of day: 2:00 PM. For many women, this is the hour when the "afternoon slump" hits, the sugar cravings kick in, and the stress of the day starts to settle into our shoulders. But what if I told you that 2 PM is actually the secret window to unlocking permanent weight loss?

It’s all about cortisol, and it’s all about the "Daily Flow" created by our incredible movement expert, Instructor Jasmine.

The Science of the 2 PM Wall

Have you ever noticed that around 2:00 PM, your brain starts searching for an exit strategy? Maybe you reach for a second (or third) cup of coffee, or perhaps you find yourself wandering into the kitchen for something sweet. This isn't a lack of willpower; it’s biology.

In the world of Metabolic Psychiatry, we look at how your hormones dictate your hunger. By mid-afternoon, your cortisol, the body's primary stress hormone, often takes a dip or, conversely, stays unsustainably high due to work stress. When cortisol is out of whack, your body gets the signal to store fat, particularly around the midsection.

If you try to "push through" with a high-intensity workout or more caffeine at this hour, you might actually be making the problem worse. High-intensity exercise during a high-stress period can spike cortisol even further, telling your body to hang onto every calorie for dear life.

That is where Instructor Jasmine comes in.

Meet Instructor Jasmine: Movement with Intention

If you haven’t met Jasmine yet, imagine someone with the grace, strength, and vibrant energy of Jenna Dewan. She isn’t here to tell you to "grind" or "no pain, no gain." Jasmine’s philosophy is rooted in the "Daily Flow", a series of mindful movements designed to harmonize the nervous system rather than deplete it.

Jasmine understands that for women, weight loss is often a battle against a stressed-out nervous system. Her approach is evidence-based and focuses on lowering the "biological noise" that keeps us in a state of fight-or-flight. When you lower that noise, your metabolism can finally do its job.

Why "Daily Flow" Beats the Gym at 2 PM

Most weight loss programs tell you to work harder. We tell you to move smarter. Instructor Jasmine’s Daily Flow is a 15-to-20-minute sequence that combines elements of mobility, rhythmic stretching, and deep breathing.

When you engage in this flow at 2 PM, you are effectively "resetting" your internal clock. Here is why it works:

  1. Cortisol Regulation: Gentle, rhythmic movement lowers cortisol levels. This signals to your brain that you are safe, allowing your body to release stored fat.
  2. Insulin Sensitivity: Even short bursts of mindful movement can help your cells better respond to insulin. If you’ve been struggling with insulin resistance, this is a game-changer. You can learn more about this in our guide on how to lose weight with insulin resistance.
  3. Dopamine without the Sugar: Instead of getting a dopamine hit from a cookie, the Daily Flow provides a natural "feel-good" boost that clears brain fog and keeps you focused for the rest of the work day.

The Brain-Body Connection

At Caring Hearts Psychiatry Inc., we often say that your mind is the key to permanent weight loss. If you are struggling with emotional eating, a traditional diet will almost always fail because it doesn't address the why.

Jasmine’s Daily Flow serves as a bridge. It teaches you to listen to your body’s cues. Are you actually hungry at 2 PM, or are you just stressed? By stepping into the "Flow," you give yourself the space to answer that question honestly. This is a core component of our telehealth approach to weight loss, where we look at the whole person, mind, body, and biology.

Introducing the CURVE Collective

We are so proud to integrate Instructor Jasmine’s methods into our signature program: The CURVE Collective.

CURVE Collective: Sexy, Curvy, Cool!

This isn't your average weight loss group. The CURVE Collective is designed for women who are tired of the "all or nothing" mentality. We combine clinical supervision, metabolic health coaching, and mindful movement to create a safety net for your health journey. Whether you are navigating PCOS, postpartum changes, or the complexities of using GLP-1 medications, the CURVE Collective provides the structure you need.

Instructor Jasmine’s Daily Flow is a cornerstone of this program. We believe that movement should make you feel powerful and sexy, not exhausted and defeated.

Is Your "Hungry Brain" Sabotaging You?

Often, the reason we fail at weight loss isn't a lack of effort, it's that we are fighting our own biology. If your brain thinks it's starving or in danger, it will win every time. This is what we call the "Hungry Brain."

By implementing Jasmine’s Daily Flow, you are essentially "soothing" the hungry brain. You are telling your nervous system that the 2 PM slump is a time for restoration, not a time for panic-eating.

What’s Next?

This is just Part 1 of our 3-part series. In the next post, we will be diving into the "Metabolic Reset", how to pair Instructor Jasmine’s movements with specific nutritional timing to maximize fat burning without sacrificing your mental peace.

In the meantime, I want to challenge you. Tomorrow at 2:00 PM, instead of reaching for the caffeine, take five minutes. Stand up, stretch your arms to the ceiling, take three deep breaths, and move your body in a way that feels good. Notice how your cravings change.

If you’re ready for a more personalized approach, don't forget to check out our wellness coaching options. We are here to support you every step of the way, with compassion, evidence-based science, and a friendly smile.
