Welcome back to the third and final installment of my weight loss journey and results series! If you’ve been following along, we’ve covered a lot of ground. We talked about why traditional dieting fails and how oral GLP-1s are changing the game in 2026. We also dove deep into why clinical supervision is the "safety net" every woman needs to succeed.
But today, we’re tackling the "million-dollar question." It’s the thing that keeps most of us up at night when we finally see that lower number on the scale: Can I actually keep it off?
For years, the narrative surrounding weight loss for women has been one of struggle, regain, and disappointment. We’ve been told it’s all about "willpower." I’m here to tell you that’s a myth. After losing 100 pounds and maintaining it, I’ve learned that long-term success isn’t about trying harder; it’s about thinking differently.
Let’s get into how we master the "maintenance" phase and why the CURVE Collective is the community you’ve been looking for.
The "Yo-Yo" Trap and Why This Time is Different
We’ve all been there. You lose 20 pounds, feel amazing, buy a new outfit, and then, slowly but surely, the weight creeps back. It’s disheartening. But here is the clinical truth: weight regain isn’t a character flaw. It’s a biological response. When you lose weight rapidly through restriction, your brain thinks you’re in a famine and works overtime to get you back to your "set point."
My journey was different because I stopped fighting my biology and started working with it. By using an evidence-based approach that combines Metabolic Psychiatry with personalized support, I was able to silence the "food noise" that usually leads to regain.
Mindset: The Foundation of Permanent Results
If you want to keep the weight off, you have to address what I call the "Hungry Brain." Most weight loss programs focus entirely on what you eat from the neck down. At Caring Hearts Psychiatry Inc., we focus on what’s happening from the neck up.
Research shows that the most successful maintainers are those who shift their mindset from "dieting" to "living." In my own journey, I had to eliminate the guilt. If I had a treat, I didn't let it spiral into a weekend-long binge. I learned to understand emotional eating and realize that food is fuel, but it’s also something to be enjoyed, not feared.

Success Strategy 1: The Power of Small Movements
One of the biggest lessons I learned is that you don’t need to live in the gym to maintain your results. In fact, over-exercising can sometimes trigger more hunger and lead to burnout.
Instead, I focused on consistency over intensity. Some days, that meant a 45-minute walk. Other days, when life was chaotic, it meant just five minutes of movement. Those five minutes were crucial because they kept the habit alive. For women, especially as we balance hormones and aging, incorporating light weights a few times a week is essential for bone density and keeping our metabolism humming.
Success Strategy 2: Flexibility Over Perfection
Perfection is the enemy of maintenance. If your plan is so strict that you can’t go to a birthday party or enjoy a vacation, it’s going to fail. My maintenance plan involves "realistic eating."
I aim for high-protein, nutrient-dense meals most of the time, like these 7 healthy dinners under 30 minutes, but I also leave room for the things I love. When you stop labeling foods as "good" or "bad," they lose their power over you.
Success Strategy 3: Clinical Supervision and Biological Support
Let’s be real: sometimes your body needs a little extra help. Whether it’s managing hormonal changes during menopause or correcting a vitamin deficiency, having a healthcare provider in your corner is a game-changer.
This is why I’m so passionate about our wellness coaching and clinical services. We don't just give you a prescription and send you on your way. We monitor your progress, adjust your plan, and ensure your "safety net" is always intact.

The CURVE Collective: Your New Support System
I didn't do this alone, and you shouldn't have to either. We created the CURVE Collective because we know that community is the secret sauce to long-term success. It’s a space where we celebrate our curves, our health, and our progress without the judgment of traditional weight-loss groups.
CURVE Collective: Sexy, Curvy, Cool!

In the CURVE Collective, we focus on:
- Topical Authority: Deep dives into the science of weight loss for women.
- Support: A community that understands the unique challenges women face.
- Personalization: Tailoring the journey to your body and your life.
Staying Motivated When the "Newness" Wears Off
Maintenance is a marathon, not a sprint. The "high" of seeing a new number on the scale eventually fades, and that’s when the real work begins. To stay motivated, I look for "non-scale victories":
- Having more energy to play with my kids.
- Sleeping better through the night.
- Feeling confident in my professional life.
- The mental clarity that comes from balanced nutrition.
If you find yourself struggling, don't wait until you've regained 20 pounds to reach out. At Caring Hearts Psychiatry, we offer resources for trauma, psychotherapy, and even substance abuse because we know that mental health and physical health are inextricably linked.
